Since 2020, the health context has led the world to work remotely with all stakeholders. This has profoundly changed the way we work and the perception of our professional environment. Some companies have had to adopt teleworking even though they were not in favor of it before the health crisis. As a result of this radical change, this period was experienced in a very different way for everyone because it was necessary to rethink one’s way of working and/or management.

A new organization of work

The pandemic has forced companies to rethink their organization. It was necessary to set up tools to be able to work and interact remotely, and in a secure way. In addition, it was important to organize the handling of these tools. This has a financial cost for companies: hardware, licenses, software, etc. And it also has an impact on the organization of work for most employees.

We know today that although some companies make every effort to facilitate teleworking, and relations between remote employees, there are still occupational health issues. For example, employees are more sensitive to psychosocial risks. Whether on a relational level, or on a material level, working from home quickly becomes a source of stress for some employees. These particular conditions linked to the different periods of confinement have led to the isolation of employees.

Today, several studies show that the « 100% » distance is not suitable for everyone. The vast majority of employees want a mix between working in the office and working from home.

Access to a healthy workspace

Since the massive implementation of teleworking, experts have denounced the situations of psychological distress experienced by some employees and the devastating risks to the mental health of the latter.

According to the Opinionway barometer for Empreinte Humaine (Human Footprint), published at the end of December 2020, 20% of them are even in a situation of high distress and 31% on the verge of depression.

In addition, some aspects of daily life that may seem innocuous, are more complex to manage in a work-from-home context. For example, the size of the dwelling, the presence of children or the adoption of certain tools, highlight inequalities in the working environment between each worker.

Indeed, a repetition of these situations experienced as restrictive can have a real impact on overall motivation, causing burnout. That’s why, as managers, you need to pay special attention to the mental health of your employees.

Thus, the importance of training and supporting your employees on collaborative tools appears as prevention tools in the face of these risks. These will facilitate remote work with all stakeholders.
